Contributing towards Non-Proliferation and Security through Effective Export Management of Sensitive Goods and Technologies

Commodity Identification Training and Outreach/ Awareness Raising, Sialkot (August 2023)

A team of Strategic Export Control Division (SECDIV) conducted a two-day Commodity Identification Training (CIT) at Customs House, Dry Port, Sambrial (Sialkot) on 9-10 August 2023. The training was aimed at capacity enhancement of enforcement agencies in identification and interdiction of sensitive dual use items. Over the two days, various technical aspects of Strategic Trade Management were discussed including identification of sensitive commodities, red flag indicators and implementation of the UNSC sanctions related to proliferation financing.

 

Separately, on 11th August, the SECDIY team also visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industries and the University of Sialkot to raise awareness in the business community and academia regarding the regulatory regime for Strategic Export Controls including implementation of Internal Compliance Program (ICP) guidelines.

 

The training event was a part of SECDIV routine Outreach and CIT plan.
