A two-day Training Workshop on use, operation and maintenance of Detection Equipment was organized by SECDIV on 07-08 November 2023 at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad. The training aimed at enhancing capacity of the Law Enforcement Agencies to detect and interdict the items as listed in National Control Lists through the use of technology. It was attended by different departments including Pakistan Customs, Anti-Narcotics Force, Airport Security Force and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency.
During the inaugural address, Mr. Haroon Rashid, DG (SECDIV), highlighted the importance of use of technology for speedy and effective detection and interdiction of contraband goods and underscored that such trainings will further strengthen the implementation of Export Control on Goods, Technologies, Material and Equipment related to Nuclear and Biological Weapons and their Delivery Systems Act (Export Control Act - 2004) and the United Nations Security Council Resolution-1540. He reiterated Pakistan's unwavering commitment to its international obligations related to non-proliferation of WMDs.
The training event was part of SECDIV's Annual Outreach and Capacity Building Programme.
